I was promoted internally to now manage people that used to be my peers at work and friends outside of work hours as well. Is it necessarily the case that I have to change my relationships with my colleagues now that I'm their manager? How can I juggle both our working relationships and personal friendships going forward? It's a brand new dynamic for me and it's given me a lot of anxiety as I now overthink everything I do or say to be perceived as a good boss AND a good friend 😪

Just be yourself and always stay professional. Like during work hours, focus on being fair and consistent as a manager. Outside of work, continue to be the friend they know, but understand that there may be some shifts.
