My manager and I are close on a personal level but recently she's been pulling me into meeting rooms after lunch to rant about her love life and personal matters. This is super distracting to my work and making me unable to complete my work on time. But at the same time, I can't reject meeting my manager since she's my superior. How should I go about this situation? 😫😫😫

Uuu... It sounds like your manager is overstepping a bit. While it’s tough to set boundaries with a superior, you have every right to prioritize your work. Next time she starts a personal rant, you could politely explain that you’ve got pressing tasks to complete and suggest chatting after work hours

This is tough. It’s good that you didn’t show any disrespect, but now she’s gotten too comfortable with you. I get that if you try to be honest about how you feel, it might come off as offensive to her. I’m so confused :(

If you both are close on personal level, then i find it’s easier for her to understand you if you really explain to her your situation.

Your lunch break is your time. Maybe you could gently steer the conversation back to you having a call with your family (personal matters) when she brings up personal topics. Pretending someone is calling you. It helps keep her understand you also got priority things to do :)
