Fresh grads list salary as their top priority for the 1st time in 14 years -- why does this come as a shock to some? Hello! I'm a fresh grad and I'm NOT ASHAMED to admit that money is my motivation to wake up everyday to go to work and do my best! 💪 Yes, other things matter too like gaining work experience, learning from mentors, sharpening my skills etc but they mean nothing if I don't get a good salary package. Amidst the rising cost of living in SG, pls don't say we're asking too much.
-
I'm with you!! It’s tough out there with how much everything costs now. Even fresh grads have bills, some have loans, and many want to start saving ASAP. Money matters for everyone..
-
I think people forget that every generation faces new challenges, and for you younger people, it’s the crazy cost of living. Prioritizing salary is just part of adapting to that reality. There’s nothing wrong with wanting stability and a sense of financial security
-
Get it wanting a good salary, but it feels like everyone’s forgetting that entry-level jobs are about gaining experience. It's unrealistic to expect top pay without any work history. How'd you guys justify that it's worth paying you with what you can contribute to the company?
-
Preach! It's not asking too much to want a good salary for our efforts, especially when essentials are getting pricier by the day. It's not about greed, it's just practical. Yes, we want to learn and grow in our careers, but being paid fairly also 💯
-
Sometimes i just cannot brain how these older generations expect us to work so hard but doesnt even reflect the pay.

YASS QUEEEN! You slaaayyyy gurl! 💯 agree, no cap! You totally read my mind. I'm pretty tired having to justify myself why I'm asking for a certain number because most companies I went to felt like i'm being overconfident and asking too much. I'm not, really. My expectation is based on the latest fresh grads salary survey. You gotta keep up dear companies!
-
Well, if you do not have the experience. Companies are technically taking you in on a limp.
What if you sell yourself very high, but perform short? I believe when appraisal comes, that's when you can renegotiate your salary.
-
lol. when salary review comes employer will give all sorts of excuse not to give. economy not good la, no budget la.
