Hello! I’ve been with this company for 5 years and about to have my first formal review tomorrow. Since started working, I received two pay increases but the last one was in 2021. So it's been 3 years since. I’m expecting a significant raise (yayy), but pls advise me on these 2 matters: 1) How can I best negotiate for a larger increase if needed? 2) would it be appropriate to ask for retroactive pay, considering I haven’t had a raise since 2021? Thanks!

That's exciting! I hope the review goes well! I hope the review goes well! Just keep in mind that companies can be tight when it comes to raises and retroactive pay, especially after three years. Still, it's worth bringing up if you feel confident about the impact you’ve had

Can see that very excited about it 😄 i believe your company also expecting to raise your pay. Remember, even the review is formal, just do it casual. So both of you feel comfortable to do open sharing. Best to practice first so you can avoid being too nervous, so you know what to point out and highlight on your growth and performance you’ve showed over the years
